The technology must be right when competing for the hundredth of a second in motor sport. A carefully balanced wheel makes a decisive contribution.
A lot is required from the vehicles at top speeds on the race track. At the same time it is important that the drivers can rely one hundred percent on their vehicles. If vibrations occur, caused by an imbalance of the tyres, this leads to the driver being unsettled and no longer pushing the limits.
“You notice straight away if the tyres are unbalanced,” and “you drive 3-4 km/hr slower around the curves," explains Claudia Huertgen, professional racing driver, in the new motor sport video from HOFMANN POWER WEIGHT. For this reason successful teams are backing original wheel balance weights, which are being tested in close cooperation with partners on the racing track.
An important point in motor sport is the speed in the pit stop. For example, during the 24 hour race on the Nurburgring 3,000 tyre changes are carried out. A rapid removal, simple mounting and a strong adhesion of the weights are the important aspects of wheel balancing. "These are all performance features of Hofmann Power Weight,” explains Uwe Staeder, Service Technician and Motor Sport Support at Hofmann. Not without reason the premier class has also been backing the balancing weights with the shaft since this year.
Because wheel balancing is important in motor sport too. Only an optimally balanced wheel ensures safe driving to the limits.
The motor sport video is 1.31 minutes long and is available now in German and English on the Hofmann Power Weight home page at:
